The Sheraton Cavalier downtown Saskatoon requires a full time Baker and or Pastry Chef with flexible availability including weekends. Our hotel is home to various outlets and banquet facilities, including Carver's Steakhouse & lounge and our all day Scarlet Craft Kitchen.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will assist in the organization and execution of baked goods for the Banqueting events and for our various outlets. The bake shop commences early mornings in order to prepare items in advance of the peak time frames. These items include breads, buns, pastries, desserts, loaves, as well as catering menu items and James Hotel welcome amenities.

The bakers must follow menu specifications in order to maintain consistency of various products; however, creativity and expertise will be required of the bakers when experimenting with new menu items or special items made specific for an event.

**Responsibilities**

Work collaboratively with other bakers ensuring that tasks are accomplished in a timely manner

Planning and organizing are important due to the limited oven space

Supports team members in mise en plus

Responsible for outcome of product ensuring specifications are met and consistency in quality and presentation

Minimize waste/adjustments by following menu specifications / recipes

Communicate well with Kitchen Management team in order to execute in a timely manner

Maintain par stocks of bake shop supplies and product

Report any equipment concerns to Supervisory team

Ensures a safe/clean work environment complying to all regulations ie: Food Safe, WHMIS, Health and Safety Policies, cleanliness

**Qualifications**

Must have formal Culinary Training

Minimum 2 years experience in a high volume kitchen

Must have a broad range of knowledge in baking

Ability to handle stress professionally in an ever changing environment

Proven creative food content knowledge & presentation

Extensive knowledge of the care & operation of a full range commercial kitchen equipment as well as food production supplies

Strong interpersonal skills

Proven ability to work effectively as a team member

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
