SLACAN Industries Inc. is Canada's largest designer and manufacturer of Pole line Hardware, which includes a full line of Transmission and Distribution products. We service the OEM market including the agricultural, mining and other industries. Our in-house processes include forgings, hot / cold stampings and weldments.

Our Company is currently looking for an **Operations Manager** to join our team.

**Position Overview**

The Operations Manager is accountable for all aspects of production and will ensure that objectives are scheduled and attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality requirements. This position would suit a proven Operations Manager who has experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.

**Responsibilities**
- Assist in developing of the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Assist in building a lean manufacturing environment that includes standardized operating procedures, continuous improvements and delivery of improved business results.
- Coordinating the capacity plans so delivery requirements are maximized, while shop floor efficiencies are considered.
- Evaluates the impact of RUSH or Critical delivery items to minimize any negative impact on the Master Production Schedule (MPS) that affect existing customer delivery requirements.
- Advises the sales group when product is expected or known to be delayed and advises of a new schedule date.
- Evaluates any delays from purchasing, maintenance and shop floor to determine the effect on the MPS. Determines alternative actions required.
- Notifies purchasing when materials are needed to maintain project schedules, critical delivery requirements or any inventory discrepancies.
- Initiates plans and processes that minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
- Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring high quality product standards.
- Improve on-time delivery performance and reduce overall lead-times.
- Perform regular audits and weekly observations to ensure KPI’s are being met.
- Provide effective leadership in a unionized environment. Acting as a role model whom; champions a culture of safety, facilitates change management and, drives continuous development.
- Actively engaged in safety improvements and building a culture of safety.

**Required Skills**:

- Extensive knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
- Ability to lead root cause analysis investigations
- Strong analytical skills to identify operational requirements and solutions to address deficiencies.
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization

**Experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field
- 5-10 years experience in an unionized manufacturing environment
- APICS Certification an asset
- Experience working in an ISO environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with clear prioritization and organization
- Proven knowledge of business and managerial principles of budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and costs.
