**THE POSITION**

The Coordinator, Community Relations & Hockey Family Liaison is primarily responsible for making a positive impact on the community through various initiatives and events. This position bridges the organization with those who matter most: our fans. This role enables us to personally thank the community for their continued support as well as create lasting connections with them and our community partnerships.

The position is a temporary 18-month fixed term contract.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Community Relations_
- Reporting to the Vice President, Communications
- Manage, administer, and coordinate all player community relations events and initiatives;
- Manage, administer, and coordinate post-game player meet and greets for all departments;
- Lead the promotion of all events and manage all media relations;
- Organize NHL community relations programs such as Hockey Fights Cancer, Hockey Talks, and Pride;
- Liaison between the Calgary Flames and the NHL community relations department with information on the Flames actions for league mandated community events;
- Organize and draft NHL awards and internal nominations that link to Community Relations including, King Clancy Award and Ralph T. Scurfield Award;
- Work closely with the Public Relations department to position the Calgary Flames with a positive reputation;
- Draft all community relations press releases;
- Organize and execute all internal and external requests for autographs;
- Arrange and coordinate all external and internal requests for appearances;
- Organize and manage all sponsorship commitments with players;
- Manage and promote all players personal charity programs including programs;
- Organize all ticketing requests from charities and player personal program;
- Work closely with the Calgary Flames hockey operations department in the scheduling of all player appearances during the season and off-season;
- Actively participate in safety programs and follow CSEC policies;
- All other duties as assigned
- Hockey Family Liaison_
- Reporting to the Executive Assistant of Hockey Operations
- Serve as the main point of contact for players’ families, including the Better Halves group.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning events and charity initiatives; organizing gifts, tickets, and catering; decorating suites; coordinating travel; assisting with family visits; managing special occasions; and making reservations.
- Report to Hockey Operations on all matters related to the Flames Better Halves group.

**THE INDIVIDUAL**

The ideal individual will have the following background:

- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in communications and community program development.
- Event planning skills beneficial but not required
- The ability to multi-task and perform under pressure while meeting deadlines is crucial
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong interpersonal skills in building relationships
- Intermediate to advanced skills using all Microsoft platforms is considered a strong asset.

**CERTIFICATIONS**
- Willing to obtain a vulnerable sector check prior to the start date.
- A diploma or degree within a related discipline such as: Public Relations or Communications.
