**PRODUCTION OPERATOR**

**(SUMMER, FULL-TIME)**

**Are you a summer student who likes physical work, being part of a team and who wants to earn a competitive wage for school tuition and books? If so, Black Cat Wear Parts is hiring Production Operators for the summer No experience required; we will provide paid training.**

We are currently recruiting for summer-time **student** production operators within our southside Edmonton, Alberta manufacturing facility**.**Our normal workweek is 40 hours, with the opportunity for overtime as needed and once training is complete.

We are looking for students to start the **beginning of May and work to the end of August**, however we can work with various exam and start of school activities/schedules.
- We are seeking hard working, hands-on individuals who would like to be trained and gain knowledge in one of the following departments:_
- **Cutting**_: Using CNC controlled multi and single head oxy-fuel cutting machines, HYD-Mech saws and hydraulic punches to cut, shape and bevel products from several grades of heat treatable bar and plate steel.
- **CNC**_: Using various CNC vertical machining centers to machine ground engaging parts.
- **Heat Treat**_: Using walking beam furnaces and batch ovens to quench and temper finished product. Secondary process involves straightening, painting and labeling of customer specific products.

**Job Overview**:
Under general supervision, Production Operators are primarily responsible for carrying out the assigned plant production schedules in order to meet external customer requirements.

Depending on your assigned department, operators will learn the correct methods, practices and in-house procedures for cutting, punching/milling/drilling and heat-treating products.

- Currently enrolled in Post-secondary education, or will be enrolled in the Fall of 2024.

Experience considered an asset would include:

- Exposure to a production facility
- Operation of forklifts and overhead cranes
- Understanding of blueprints, geometric tolerances and metallurgy
- Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement

**Working Conditions**:

- Shop environment, working with various machines, equipment and hand tools
- Moderately physical work; ability to lift up to 80 pounds
- Long periods of standing, noise and high temperatures
- Safety sensitive environment therefore PPE is required on the shop floor at all times (ear/eye protection & steel-toed boots)

**Work Environment**:
