**Position Title**: Business Analyst Consultant
**Reports To**: Director, Operations and Digital Experience
**Department**: Group Operations
**Term**: Permanent Full-Time

**Work Arrangements**: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Business Analyst Consultant plays a key role in assisting the Business Architect in developing and recommending a new business architecture and roadmap, transforming our core system to enable Equitable’s “effortless experience”. Group Benefits core system is unique in the industry due to the breadth of business functions it performs claims adjudication, administration, quote and renewals and billing and so there is tremendous opportunity with transformation to meet evolving business requirements.

**What you will be doing**:

- Partner closely with the Business Architect and Group leadership to develop the recommendation and execute on the roadmap that will result in superior client outcomes by listening to our clients and partners and be driven by their needs, collecting data and feedback to make data driven decisions, rapidly iterate, experiment, and learn so we build the best possible solutions for our clients and partners within Group.
- With the Business Architect, the Business Analyst Consultant will help define modularization, and then develop, prioritize, and groom the product backlogs for the Technology teams to execute, creating unique and innovative solutions.
- The role will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization and with our Technology/Development teams modernize and transform Group administration through solution partnerships with other strategic initiatives (e.g., CMX) and business areas (e.g., Underwriting) to align with evolving and future needs of our clients, plan members, and distribution partners.
- This is a high impact role within the Group business and requires an individual with demonstrated business acumen, a strong technical aptitude, stakeholder engagement experience, collaboration and influencing skills, an enduring sense of curiosity, a never-ending desire to learn, and a relentless drive for results.
- The solution could include new products, process changes, training, modifications to business rules, implementation of new technology so an enduring sense of curiosity, a never-ending desire to learn is critical.
- The role of Business Analyst Consultant will have three main accountabilities.
- Extensive experience with IT projects and strong analysis skills, including data analysis are required to assess how business problems can be solved with technology.
- Communication, influencing and facilitating discussions between the Business and IT partners is important to the success of the role. These activities will help develop competitive and profitable products and implement business/technology strategies. It will improve efficiency and productivity, and leverage technology advances to improve the Client, Sponsor, Advisor and internal operations experience.
- This role will also coordinate user acceptance testing, playing an integral role in ensuring successful project implementation. The BA Consultant will focus on projects with a high complexity and/or large breadth of impact to the Business.
- Strong project management and organization will be required to see the process redesign through to implementation.
- The BA Consultant will be accountable for the Business Analyst and User Acceptance Testing practices, defining, and implementing improvements to processes and tools, including test automation techniques.
- The BA Consultant will be a thought leader, coach, mentor and trainer to the Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers, at all levels. A key function will be to work with the IT Leaders to ensure alignment with the IT Systems Analyst and Quality Assurance practices. This also includes representing the Business, as the IT development methodology continues to evolve, related to agile and iterative development techniques.
