About The Role Monks is looking for one Business Affairs Manager to join its in‑house Legal & Business Affairs team, which works closely with our content production teams. The role will strategize and advise on all Business Affairs matters related to the production of work for an iconic automotive brand, helping to create groundbreaking work and a future vision for the account. Location: Primarily a remote role, but you will work with clients and team members across Canada. Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are preferred. Key Responsibilities Provide production support to all Monks entities in Canada, focusing on servicing our automotive client. Work alongside agency producers for timely bidding of projects, finalizing client estimates, negotiating production‑related agreements, declaring production insurance, and advising on all network compliance and clearance matters. Handle talent for SAG/UDA/AFTRA Union and non‑Union productions—estimating talent session and usage costs, issuing and interpreting talent contracts, advising on usage rights, processing payments, and drafting final completion reports. Collaborate with the client, agency partners, and dealers to manage talent & rights approval of local, regional, national, and global asset requests. Manage the wrap‑up process for all live‑action productions together with the Lead EP or producer. Work closely with our internal legal team, including the VP, Legal & Business Affairs, on production, intellectual property rights management, music rights, talent rights, and other clearance matters. Report to the Director of Business Affairs for input regarding day‑to‑day responsibilities. About You The essentials: At least 3–5 years of professional experience within the advertising production industry. Demonstrable skills in strategic Business Affairs and enthusiasm to work both independently and as part of a team. Fluent in English; other language skills are a bonus. Excellent organizational and administrative skills. Experience with content and media production and rights clearance. In‑depth knowledge of SAG/UDA/AFTRA commercials contract and talent residual payments. Flexibility and willingness to take on tasks in new areas of the industry. Confidence in business/commercial awareness. Proactive, hands‑on, result‑oriented, and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines and accuracy.
