We are seeking a proactive and detail orientated **Controller** to join our team.

As a **Controller **and a member of the Klondike team, you will be responsible for the oversight of all of Klondike’s accounting functions including day-to-day accounting, monthly accruals and closeout, internal controls, financial reporting and filing, and project support.

This role provides the opportunity to build and grow our accounting team and processes and to take on a variety of work. Initially, this role will be very hands-on as we transition our accounting software and strengthen our accounting processes.

**Responsibilities**:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead and mentor team members
- Oversee the accounting function for the company
- Find solutions and remove obstacles
- Review working papers and journal entries
- Accurately reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Accurately reconcile AR & AP sub-ledgers to the GL
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Participate in meetings, provide financial support, and prepare reports and presentations
- Monthly accruals & closeout
- Assess, implement, and monitor internal controls and policies
- Prepare monthly reporting as requested including forecasting, budgeting vs actual, balance sheet, retainers, income statement, profitability by job and committed costs
- Meet with Estimators and Project Managers to set up and reconcile project budgets
- Provide payroll oversight and sign off
- Provide hands-on support in the absence of any members of the accounting team

**Required Experience & Skills**
- CPA designation
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior accounting role; experience in the construction industry is a strong asset
- Demonstrated success effectively mentoring and managing a team
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office, accounting, and bookkeeping software
- Highly self-motivated, directed, and accountable
- Solution-focused with a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Flexible with the ability to work on multiple projects and a variety of work
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and allocate time/resources accordingly
- Strong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge
