The General Manager II has the Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the warehouse operations at their facility, ensuring the safe and effective operation of the warehouse, and providing leadership and direction to a team of employees. The General Manager II ensures strong alignment with the overall company vision, mission, strategy and culture and works with the Director Regional Operations to continuously improve operations and provide our customers with supply chain solutions.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Safety & Compliance**
- Leads and promotes a culture where Health & Safety is the #1 priority. Provides leadership and support for Health & Safety initiatives at the facility.
- Partners with national and regional Health & Safety leads to implement incident prevention programs.
- Implements modified work programs and accommodation plans for all absences.
- Operates within and ensures full compliance with the Code of Business Conduct, company policies and procedures, and all statutes and legislation governing the workplace.
- Liaises with Chief Engineer to ensure implementation and maintenance of company standards for the building envelope, including sanitation, maintenance, security, refrigeration equipment and facilities, in a manner that results in a safe and efficient operation.
- Reports temperature variations, racking, building maintenance, and environmental issues (ie. asbestos, water contamination, mold, etc.) to the Chief Engineer and follows up to ensure timely resolution.
- Ensures Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) is kept in good working condition and meets or exceeds the standards outlined in company policy and applicable legislation. Responsible for MHE equipment leasing, maintenance and repairs.
- Partners with regional Food Safety lead to implement and maintain Cold Chain Assurance programs such as HACCP, including program development, ensuring compliance, employee training and compliance reporting.
- Holds overall responsibility for ensuring the successful functioning of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. May participate directly in committee meetings or as an active member. Provides a written response to issues the committee brings forward.

**People Leadership**
- Provides overall direction, support, coaching and leadership to the warehouse team to achieve prescribed objectives and align department and individual efforts to the vision, mission, strategy and culture.
- Develops and leads regular site communication sessions to review safety initiatives, site performance and other local initiatives.
- Monitors, measures, coaches and develops direct reports, ensures adherence to policies and procedures, provides recognition, evaluates and provides feedback on performance, addresses performance concerns and resolves problems.
- Ensures SMART Goals are in place for all incentive-eligible employees.
- Assumes the leadership role in the hiring, orientation, training and development of staff.
- Establishes work schedules and ensures that they are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned and completed effectively. Tracks daily attendance of warehouse employees, including sick days, vacation and floater days. Monitors attendance and addresses attendance management issues.
- Manages the ongoing development of talent and leadership of employees.
- Partners with Human Resources to implement positive employee relations at non-union sites and participates in the review of various employment policies from time to time (at applicable sites).
- Partners with Human Resources to maintain strong union relations and participates in Collective Bargaining sessions (at applicable sites).
- Spend 25-50% of their day on the floor providing direction to supervisors and coaching with regards to monitoring employee performance on Safety, Service and Productivity.
- Champions company-wide programs for increasing employee engagement, communications and people development.

**Customer Experience**
- Leads their team in providing the highest levels of customer service, both internally and externally, with the goal of continuously improving the customer
