Reporting to the Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Coordinator, AODA and Accessibility Initiatives is responsible for providing project management and communications support to meet OCAD University’s (OCAD U) AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) legislative requirements, including the December 2025 Compliance Report and related accessibility monitoring, reporting, and evaluation needs.
The Coordinator works closely with administrative and academic units to document and communicate existing accessibility initiatives and to identify and plan the implementation of accessibility requirements and high priority projects of strategic importance to the University. The Coordinator will facilitate data collection and analysis, preparing reporting documentation and coordinating communications and knowledge sharing that meet AODA legislative requirements.
The Coordinator collaborates closely with the Office of the Vice-President, Finance & Administration (VPFA), Office of the Vice-President, Academic and Provost (VPAP), and the Faculty Offices to ensure that accessibility monitoring, reporting, and evaluation activities and outcomes are communicated and implemented in alignment with academic governance requirements and timelines.
The Coordinator works within the Office of Diversity, Equity & Sustainability Initiatives (ODESI) as part of a broader team that provides a range of human rights programs and services and collaborates with the university community to provide leadership and support for equitable and inclusive educational and employment environments at OCAD University.
**Summary of Responsibilities**:
- Provide project management support for AODA reporting, working with departments across the University to develop, implement, monitor and communicate project plans, workflows, timelines, outcomes and related documentation.
- Coordinate project evaluation activities, and facilitate focus groups as required.
- Liaise with and build relationships with the administrative and academic units across the University to promote collaboration and strengthen inter-departmental communication, information-sharing; disseminate AODA legislative information and updates as needed.
- Work with the Manager to develop and implement communications strategies to build campus-wide awareness of AODA and accessibility activities.
- Coordinate meetings, presentations and other knowledge sharing activities to advance understanding of AODA requirements and activities at the University.
- Design and implement monitoring and evaluation processes to advance accessibility-centred planning and decision-making; support the preparation and dissemination of relevant reports and presentations as required.
- Conduct environmental scans and sector-wide best practices as appropriate.
- Establish and maintain administrative systems and processes and provide administrative and operational support, including scheduling team meetings, establishing and communicating timelines and creating and maintaining documentation and filing systems.
- In consultation with the Manager, collaborate with Disability Culture Student Group to support project work, liaising with relevant staff as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Social Sciences) with a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in an academic environment including coursework or post-graduate certification project management and/or program evaluation; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Interest and experience in integrating accessibility into institutional planning practices.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with program evaluation approaches; experience facilitating focus groups an asset.
- Strong service orientation with demonstrated experience building relationships and collaborative partnerships with faculty and other stakeholders across institutional and community contexts.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Project management experience required with ability to respond effectively to multiple and changing priorities by adapting and remaining flexible.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new methods and work approaches and solicit and engage with feedback from multiple stakeholders to adapt goals, strategies and processes.
