It will equip them with the professional knowledge base needed to draw on past, continuing and emerging approaches (‘best practices’) outlined in pedagogical readings, the FSL curriculum, and Ministry documents to teach French to students for whom it is not a first language. They will develop a repertoire of strategies to develop and differentiate teaching units to meet culturally/linguistically diverse learners’ needs (including newcomer students with limited previous schooling), and a background in francophone culture and the Francophone minority community; all of which they can draw to develop learners’ French language proficiency across a range of skills by drawing on traditional and digital resources (websites, lesson ideas, games, templates, etc.) and incorporating multiple approaches to student assessment. 1.5 credit. Deliver course content in French, aligned with the Ontario FSL curriculum and Ministry guidance. Incorporate current digital and print resources, and promote the use of technology to support differentiated instruction. Collaborate with the course coordinator and/or the Teacher Education Office as needed. **Responsibilities**: You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades. **Qualifications**: - Qualifications (Minimum Required): - Master’s degree or equivalent in French education, second language acquisition, FSL pedagogy, or a related field. - Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing (current) or held within the last five years. - Qualifications and teaching experience in French as a Second Language appropriate to the cohort being taught (i.e., elementary for Primary/Junior cohorts or secondary for Junior/Intermediate/Senior cohorts). - Demonstrated record of effective teaching performance in post-secondary or teacher education settings. - Fluency in oral and written French (this course is taught entirely in French). Preferred Qualifications / Assets: - OCT Specialist Qualification in FSL. - Experience with differentiated instruction, multilingual learners, and intercultural teaching approaches. - Familiarity with Growing Success (2010) and current Ministry assessment policy. - Knowledge of Francophone cultures in Canada and globally, including experience with diverse language learners (e.g., newcomers, students with interrupted schooling).
