This position provides operations and support to the Data, HSI, and Entertainment platforms, the Corporate and Wireless networks, and the NOC, and for configuration of all devices that the IP and Network Management Team (IPNCM) manages. The areas of responsibility are; IP Management, Configuration Management and Capacity Augmentation with focus on IPv4/IPv6 management and switch and port assignments for optimum performance and within capacity constraints.
**Expectation of Role**
You will be expected to be proactive in developing or contributing techniques and processes to effectively manage and support the devices and services end to end. This involves both hardware and software, from a security and daily operational perspective to ensure consistency with industry standards, internal policies and forward looking precautions. “Own the Role”.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide support with the commissioning, provisioning, and proactive maintenance of core and edge network components of all services.
- Provide technical support on problem service outages (Problem Management).
- Actively participate on all projects related to the services Provisioning Operations supports; such as upgrades, modifications, augmentations and new service introduction, etcetera.
- Proactively monitor provisioning faults for root cause determination and recommendations based on findings.
- Work to achieve a high level of security on platforms IP and Network Configuration Management (IPNCM) manages, by minimizing the vulnerabilities and by following guidelines from the vendors, engineering and the Network Security team.
- Develop and review all MOP’s (Method of Procedure) prior to any change control activities to ensure impact to customers is minimized. And to work cross-functionally with other functional groups such as the NOC and other Engineering and platform to review and approve proposed change activities.
- Develops all documentation including methods of procedure, methods of restoration, backup procedures and etcetera.
- Must be willing to work in an on-call environment.
- Must be willing to work night schedule as required.
- Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety legislation.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Ensure all customer data and information is secure from all unauthorized person(s).
- Ensure best interest of Rogers and its business is prioritized.
- Ensure risks associated with business or service is mitigated to highest degree of control.
- Ensure all documentation such as but not limited to MOPs are complete with all relevant information and is reviewed by senior specialist prior to affecting network.
- Ensure system access policies are adhered to, acquiring exemption authorization where needed.
- Ensure all policies and standards listed in Rogers’ literature are met and adhered to at all time.
- Ensure business requirements are prioritized when on-call.
- Ensure service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure mínimal if any impact to customer service or the business when executing changes.
- Ensure support is requested from team members if and when need arises thus minimize risks.
**Qualifications**
- Must have a technical college diploma or university graduate in a technology discipline (Computer Science, Computer Networking, Electrical Engineering).
- Must have a technical understanding of TCP/IP and subnetting.
- Must have experience with Cisco switch devices.
- Must have experience with networking, Cisco and Juniper routers and UNIX servers such as SUN or HP.
- Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in Cable, Telecommunications or Internet in a Network Operations or Network Engineering environment.
- Must be experienced in process development.
- Must be proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio and MS Project.
