Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is a key member of the company’s senior team with responsibility for all aspects of the manufacturing operation at Hammond; including planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all production related activities. The Production Manager is supported by a team consisting of a Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and department specialists.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the development, implementation and support of activities in production areas to meet safety requirements, production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
- Maintain a safe working environment that enables associates to reach their highest potential.
- Conduct safety audits, accident and incident investigations, and corrective actions in a succinct, thorough and timely manner.
- Develop and implement plans to use materials, labour and equipment efficiently to meet production and shipping targets;
- Monitor production requirements, and align resources to meet the business goals.
- Analyze the production schedule to determine manpower requirements and ensure staffing levels are maintained
- Champion the company’s ongoing ISO status and processes;
- Ensure product quality expectations are communicated, and training is provided when necessary.
- Foster a setting for cooperation and team building between supervisors and their respective shift.
- Accessible to employees/supervisors, encouraging two-way, open and honest communication.
- Oversee the ongoing hiring, disciplining, and training of production employees and ensure employees are qualified to perform the job;
- Partner with HR to enhance employee development and retention efforts including recruitment, onboarding, and development;
- Develop and mentor the production management team and work to create a resilient cross functional organizational structure;
- Audit Leader Standard Work sign-off sheets and address shortfalls.
- Implement and maintain Continuous Improvement activities. Work with team(s) to determine root cause and preventative actions.
- Perform regular Gemba walks and maintain KPI’s communication boards.
- Ensure a clean, tidy and organized workplace is maintained at all times. Upholding a “Tour ready always” mentality
- Conduct production meetings to foster effective communication with production leaders and employees.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports explaining department output targets and actuals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong technical knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in proactive positive employee relations with manufacturing associates and supervisors.

HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Post-secondary education in business administration or a related discipline
- 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience
