**Job purpose**

The tax associate will work with managers to prepare US and Canadian personal, corporate and other tax returns as well as conduct research and complex computations.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Prepare working paper files, including documentation of positions and notes
- Basic to intermediate level research using our extensive resource data base (US and Canadian)
- Review and follow up on notices from applicable tax agencies
- Provide support to all team members as required
- Communicate effectively with tax authorities on behalf of clients
- Draft memos and other correspondence for manager review
- Identify issues with client filing and/or changes to client situation which would require attention
- Share knowledge with other team members

**Qualifications**
- Degree in Business and/or accounting
- Minimum 2 to 4 years in US/Canadian taxation
- Experience with US and Canadian domestic and international issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in the English language
- Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office suite (Excel experience is a requirement)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review work
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline focused environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently
- Problem solver and independent thinker
- Self-motivated, highly dedicated and strong work ethic

**Working conditions**:Flexible hours, however, overtime will be required, including nights and weekends during busy seasons which run from mid-February to mid-June and September/October.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$72,999.00 per year
