The UGDSB employs a team of approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington, and the City of Guelph. **THE OPPORTUNITY**

The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Human Resources team in the capacity of **Administrative Officer, Attendance Support**.

Reporting to the Manager, Wellness & Employee Health, this position supports the facilitation and administration of the Board’s attendance management program. This position is responsible for monitoring employee absence statistics, and provides support, advice, and guidance to all Board employees in the maintenance of regular attendance at work. Within the assigned portfolio, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
**Location**: Guelph Board Office (500 Victoria Road N., Guelph, ON)

**Salary Range**: $66,800 - $80,100 (per annum, 35 hours per week, 12 month position)

**Board Information**: 1.0 FTE; 12 months; **permanent**, full-time; Administrative Employees

**Responsibilities**
- Supports the overall administration of the Board’s employee attendance support program.
- Primary point of contact for employees, Managers and Unions with respect to attendance matters.
- Provides employees with required information to support their regular attendance at work.
- Partners with employees, their Managers and Union Representative (if applicable) to understand reasons for absenteeism and to develop strategies to support regular attendance.
- Performs data collection and regular review of absenteeism on an ongoing basis.
- Monitors, analyzes, tracks, and identifies absenteeism trends through attendance data; analyzes employee absences in comparison to the Board’s set threshold for absences.
- Prepares attendance management, regular and ad-hoc reports for the Wellness department.
- Monitors and maintains current and historical absence data for all Board employees.
- Partners with the Administrative Assistant of Wellness and Administrative Officer of Wellness & Employee Health to support their tasks related to attendance management.
- Transitions support to other member(s) of the Wellness & Employee Health and/or Labour Relations team, as appropriate.
- Escalates employee accommodation requests to Wellness & Return to Work Specialists as required.
- Communicates with Payroll regarding changes to an employee’s pay due to absences from work.
- Participate in relevant committees and meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to grow and develop as an HR professional.

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education with additional courses in human resources management combined with a CHRP or CDMP designation in progress, or qualifications/experience deemed equivalent by the Board.
- Minimum of three years of recent, related, and professional experience in Human Resources preferably with a focus on employee health and wellbeing.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel/Word), Google Docs and other databases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with all levels of staff.
- Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills combined with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, with a strong attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to work independently in an organized manner, and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Initiative, sound judgement and a high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Demonstrated understanding of commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience in a unionized/school board/public sector organization would be an asset.
- Team player and relationship builder with strong customer service skills
- Previous experience in managing confidential information.
- Flexibility to accomplish other duties as assigned.
- A valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle is required.
