Health & Safety Lead Coordinator

**Position Description**
Fowler Construction is actively seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead Coordinator to support the safety department team, site supervisors, and management. Reporting to the Manager of Health, Safety, and Risk Management, this role focuses on audits, hazard assessments, corrective actions, and job site observations to ensure compliance with safety standards. This position requires frequent travel, with most trips allowing you to return home at night.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide coverage for the Manager of Health, Safety, and Risk Management in their absence.
- Conduct job site safety inspections, including hazard analysis and safe work procedure reviews.
- Audit job sites to ensure compliance with company safety programs for employees, visitors, and subcontractors.
- Identify and provide positive behavior corrections to employees not following safety guidelines.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs on-site.
- Support and counsel supervisors and field safety representatives on occupational safety issues.
- Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities as needed.
- Provide trend analysis to track and improve safety initiatives across all business units.
- Represent Fowler in Health & Safety matters with external organizations (e.g., Government Agencies, WSIB).
- Assist in annual workplace risk assessments, including workplace violence, harassment, and discrimination.
- Support COR audit processes and other compliance initiatives.
- Investigate near misses, accidents, and workplace incidents, ensuring corrective actions are documented and implemented.
- Lead on-site safety presence, conducting shadowing, site visits, and safety talks.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating Health & Safety Management Systems (policies, procedures, and best practices).
- Review contractual documents for Health & Safety compliance.
- Research and recommend personal protective equipment (PPE) best practices.
**Position Requirements**
- 5+ years of experience in construction and/or aggregates safety.
- CRSP, CRST, or NCSO designation is considered a strong asset.
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario WSIB regulations.
- JHSC Level 1 & 2 Certification in construction and/or aggregates.
- Experience using SiteDocs or other safety compliance software.
- Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Certifications in WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, and other relevant safety training.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to speak confidently to large groups.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be local to the area or willing to relocate.

**Work Conditions**
- Frequent travel to job sites, training sessions, and conferences (company vehicle provided).
- Combination of office and field work, with time allocation based on workload and business needs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
- Must be available for after-hours emergency response as required.
- Some overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
