**Overview**
Our downtown oil and gas producer client is looking for an Operations Accounting Team Lead. This is a newly created position through growth. This position could be great as a stepping stone type of leadership position for an individual looking for growth but could also be very suitable for a more experienced individual looking to mentor and be a key contributor to the continued growth of the company.
**Responsibilities**
- Lead, coach and develop a team responsible for production, joint venture, capital and operations accounting activities.
- Ensure accurate recording, accrual, and reporting of revenue, royalties, operating expenses and capital expenditures.
- Oversee equalizations, 13th month adjustments, and joint venture audits.
- Manage annual GCA filings and support Crown royalty reporting as needed.
- Assist with joint venture disputes, non-operated billings and accounts receivable collection.
- Supervise production accounting to ensure accurate reporting of volumes, revenue and carbon emissions.
- Oversee system maintenance and master data integrity of Qbyte, AFE Execute and Metrix.
- Coordinate and support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to timelines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, land, and finance teams to align accounting treatment with operational activities
- Ensure compliance with PASC, CAPPA, IFRS, and other applicable accounting standards and industry regulations.
- Assist with monthly internal reporting such as providing insights to budget variances and trending analysis.
**Experience**
- CPA designation.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in upstream oil and gas accounting, with advanced expertise in production accounting and joint venture operations.
- Proficiency in Qbyte, with experience administering and maintaining financial systems.
- Experience with system implementation, upgrades, or process reengineering is an asset.
- Demonstrated success in coaching and leading accounting teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
