Prince of Whales delivers bucket-list adventures to eco-minded travelers from around the world from our 3 waterfront locations in Victoria, Vancouver and Telegraph Cove. We are dedicated to education, conservation, sustainability and FUN Our Operations team is looking for an energetic and experienced individual to manage our Victoria-based operations. You will report to the Director of Operations and the Company Owner.

Victoria is our original Prince of Whales location and serves as the head office for Prince of Whales, North Island Kayak, and Sea Vancouver. The Operations Manager has the privilege and responsibility of managing a diverse, talented, and passionate team of personnel who strive to deliver the best wildlife viewing tours in the world. In peak season, you will be directly responsible for 20+ personnel.

Job Purpose:
You are responsible for all operational activity at our Victoria location. You will directly manage shore and marine-based personnel, as well as oversee vessels, equipment, and company facilities. You are an integral part of the Prince of Whales’ management team and will be required to work closely with the sales, marketing, accounting, and marine departments.

Primary Duties
- Oversee and lead daily operations of the Victoria location
- Advertise, interview, and hire all guest services staff and marine deckhands/naturalists
- Set up and execute training of shore-based personnel; assist the Marine Operations Manager with the training of marine personnel
- Provide work schedules for all marine and guest service staff, approve time sheets for payroll, and monitor ongoing staffing needs
- Maintain ongoing communication with all team members and company departments
- Ensure high-quality guest experience and customer relations
- Order necessary supplies and merchandise for Victoria operations
- Perform periodic inventory as set out by the Accounting Department
- Oversee daily financial activity of the Victoria location
- Attend weekly meetings with management; engage and assist with cross-department and multi-location projects and initiatives
- Provide ongoing reporting and feedback to ownership regarding the Victoria operations
- Job Requirements/Qualifications:

- Skills, Attributes, and Qualifications:

- Experience in supervisory, management, or equivalent leadership roles in the tourism industry
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Passionate about marine wildlife and ecotourism, education, and conservation
- Proficiency in standard digital systems (Gsuite, Excel, Word, Photo files, phone system, etc)
- Demonstrate superb time management skills and functional self-management
- Create, foster, and maintain a positive and fun work environment for the Victoria team
