**Job Overview**
**Responsibilities**
- Experimental Design & Execution: Design and perform molecular biology experiments (e.g., PCR, qPCR, cloning, etc.). Develop and optimize assays to study gene and protein function. Conduct cell-based and biochemical assays to validate molecular mechanisms.
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyze experimental results and interpret data to draw meaningful biological conclusions and identify next experimental steps. Prepare presentations and summarize research findings based on analyzed data.
- Molecular Techniques: Perform DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and quantification. Conduct gel electrophoresis, western blotting, ELISA, and other molecular assays. Work with recombinant DNA and protein expression systems.
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Present findings in internal meetings and contribute to scientific discussions. Support cross-functional projects, such as target discovery or therapeutic development.
- Laboratory Management: Maintain accurate lab notebooks and electronic data records. Ensure compliance with biosafety and quality control standards. Manage lab reagents, instruments, and equipment maintenance.
- Research & Development (R&D): Contribute to the design and development of new molecular biology tools, assays, or therapeutics. Stay up to date with current literature and emerging molecular biology technologies.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field.
- Strong background in molecular and cellular techniques, data analysis, and experimental troubleshooting.
- Prior lab experience in molecular biology research (academic or industry) preferred but not required.
- Experience with experimental planning and project management is desirable
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and shifting work demands
- Must demonstrate critical thinking and thorough understanding of laboratory techniques
- Must be highly motivated with the ability to learn and grow in the company
Pay: $40,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Burnaby, BC V5A 4N4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
