We acknowledge that the City of Kingston is situated on traditional Anishinabek (Ah
- nish-in-ah-bay), Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-o-show-nee) and Huron-Wendat (huron-wen-dat) territory and is the home of many Indigenous peoples. We are grateful to reside and work on this land.

**Position Summary**
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaboratively manage, lead, and monitor the ongoing development, implementation, revision, evaluation and reporting of the EDI/IIDEA Action Plan and report on outcomes both publicly and internally.
Effectively manage relationships with community organizations and groups while working with sensitive and confidential information while addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
Implement EDI/IIDEA initiatives including research, design, project schedules, charters, public engagement, measurement, and follow up as well as using effective documentation and technology to manage projects and communicate progress.
Support the review, amendments and development of policies, by-laws and programs that will advance the City’s goals to be a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.
Lead the development and delivery training programs for city staff, council members, committee members and community members as required.
Identify organizational needs/gaps, and initiate, guide and lead the implementation of responses to these needs/gaps.
Provide support and assistance in the development, creation and delivery of training initiatives on topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values and maintaining compliance with applicable laws.
Prepare internal and external communications and reports for departments, committees, council and external organizations as required.
Plan and ensure that EDI/IIDEA initiatives are compliant with related policies and legislation as applicable.
Develop and manage partnerships with various organizations that will help advance diversity, equity and inclusion within the organization and the community.
Help identify opportunities for improving linkages, partnerships and joint ventures with a view toward knowledge exchange and ensuring the relevance, effectiveness and cultural safety/responsivity of the City’s programs and services.
Act as the liaison, negotiator, and facilitator throughout initiatives, working in tandem with other City departments and in alignment with various city and/or community equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Create a safe and non-judgmental space for open, insightful dialogue that support the advancement of EDI/IIDEA initiatives and program/project effectiveness.

**Qualifications, Competencies**
Post-secondary diploma or degree in public administration, diversity studies, political sciences, social sciences, related programs or a combination of education and experience.
3 years of practical related experience managing/leading multiple initiatives/projects.
3 years experience in the non-profit sector preferred, ideally in areas such as: organizational change and capacity building; project management; community engagement related to EDI/IIDEA; child welfare; social justice; youth engagement; intervention/prevention program (including clinical); and staff development.
Knowledge of the KFLA area preferred.
Experience in municipal government or community development setting is an asset.

Experience working in an organization that addressed challenges and provided solutions for under-represented staff
Proven knowledge of how diversity, inclusion and cultural competency prove critical to developing a progressive and equitable workplace
Advanced computer skills including MS Office
Strong time and project management skills with the ability to multi-task
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and interpret information
