**Job Summary**
**A Brief Overview**
Indigenous citizenship (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with demonstrated community involvement and strong knowledge of First Nation cultures, communities, customs, practices, and communication styles required. Applicants are required to provide information to verify their Indigenous citizenship in accordance with the Hiring of Indigenous Specific Positions policy. Additional information may be requested during the interview phase. Reporting to the Associate Director, Office of Indigenous Initiatives (Associate Director), the Indigenous Engagement Lead is responsible for fostering understanding, awareness and cultural sensitivity, competence, and safety across the campus community, through the delivery of Indigenous engagement opportunities and workshops requested by any department, faculty member, staff group or student organization. The Indigenous Engagement Lead is responsible for the identification, development, coordination, administration, and delivery of engagement programs and workshops (i.e. Indigenous Cultural Safety Training, online Indigenous Certificate program), and they will recruit, train and supervise a team to facilitate and support the delivery of training workshops, as needed. The Indigenous Engagement Lead works with teaching and learning specialists and colleagues for the research, design, and development of the education programs. Working effectively as a member of a team, the Indigenous Engagement Lead will also support the key goals and objectives identified in the Office of Indigenous Initiatives strategic plan and the wider University strategic plan.
**What you will do**:
- Develops, coordinates, and implements programs, services, workshops, and events that promote diversity and inclusion.
- Advises and consults with stakeholders to ensure principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion are considered in selection.
- Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, events, and services that encourage focused student enrollment, and improve student experience.
- Provides guidance to students in underrepresented communities, reviews and applies accommodation policies, and makes referrals to other supports as needed.
- Reviews and analyzes student experience, and other sources of data to conduct evaluation for the programs, and oversees implementation of changes.
- Recommends the communication strategy for the promotion of programs.
- Directs, allocates, and supervises the work of other staff.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION**
- Master's Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
**EXPERIENCE**
- More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.

- Builds relationships, trust and credibility.
- Manage own work, train and review the work of the team to see commitments through to completion.
- Set work priorities and direction, supporting the unit in achieving goals and objectives.
- Identify in advance when the intended results may not be achieved and develop a plan to address the gaps.
- Actively participate in project team meetings and develop team and unit project plans.
- Lead procedural or technological change within a unit.
- Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes.
- Seek information and input to fully understand the cause of problems.
- Appropriately assesses risks before making a decision.
- Contribute to the creation and evaluation of possible solutions.
- Take action to remove obstacles and address problems before the impact performance and results.
- Promote a work environment that is free from sexual violence, harassment and discrimination, and the ability to show empathy for those who have experienced trauma.
