The BSO Coordinator is responsible and accountable for providing optimum care to promote the well being of each individual resident. Participates in the delivery of nursing services to meet the assessed needs of the residents

- Must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. O. Reg 79/10, s. 46 or must have a current general certificate of registration with a college of a regulated health profession.
- Must have a demonstrated knowledge of dementia, delirium, mental health issues in the delivery of care and its effect on the person and family members or partner in care, to include knowledge of:

- most prevalent types and related causes
- disease processes, stages and progression
- diagnostic and assessment process
- cognitive or neurological symptoms
- current treatment interventions
- communication skills appropriate to needs of the person
- strategies to promote optimal quality of life
- experience of disease from the perspective of the person, family members or other partners in care.
- Possess GPA Certification
- Possess U-First and Palliative Care Certification
- Demonstrated evidence of excellence in communication skills
- Demonstrated active interest in ongoing education
- Prior experience in long term care (gerontology)
