- Develop and promote community support which will ensure a successful integration of clients into the community as productive members
- Provide emergency housing in Dufferin County and surrounding areas
- Create awareness of support for the homeless population throughout Dufferin, while creating and developing strong community partnerships
- Provide opportunities to develop life skills within the community through access to education and community support to build positive self esteem and empowerment
- Adapt as the needs of the community change

Reporting to the Shelter Executive Director, the Team Lead Shelter Support Worker will be responsible for supporting Men or Youth within either of the 2 shelters. They will spend an abundance of time on the floor in the shelter.

They will ensure that the agency’s goals, policies and procedures are met and adhered to. The individual will ensure that strategic goals established are translated into practical action.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Food and Menu planning**
- Oversee menu planning for your work location
- Complete grocery orders
- Complete water orders
- Place and pick-up food bank orders
- Coordinate the pick-up and drop-off of COBS bread for each shelter
- Regularly inventory food to ensure the continued implementation of safe food handling
- Ensure menu planning is based around food that is already on hand
- Rotate pantry and freezer items to ensure food is not expired and utilized according to expiry date

**Site Supervision**
- Ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the shelter is above standard
- Ensure stock of cleaning supplies is satisfactory and replenishing when needed
- Overseeing general maintenance of site and coordinating repairs/trades as needed
- Conduct monthly checks of fire equipment
- Complete and record monthly fire drills
- Ensuring PPE is always available and stocked
- Complete monthly Health and Safety Checks and report any issues to Executive Director

**Training and Orientation for New Employees**
- Support the onboarding of new employees by conducting all training shifts
- Ensure new employees are oriented to the space and introduced to all job site expectations
- Review policies and procedures with new employees
- Support the employee in the completion of the orientation checklist and provide document to Executive Director once complete

**Student Support and Supervision**
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and on-boarding of placement students
- Act as an on-site liaison of placement students
- Ensure students are oriented to the space and introduced to all job site expectations
- Support students to create learning plans that align with their personal goals and meet the needs of the organization
- Support with midterm and final evaluation forms and have these reviewed and signed by Management
- Report and concerns or issues with student performance to Executive Director

**Client/Program Oversight**
- Provide weekly memos/bulletins to the team that provides highlights of the week
- Ensure staff team are inputting data and documentation into HIFIS and CRMS
- Maintaining and organizing hard copy files of client records
- Stock and replenish hard copies of shelter documentation
- Approve pre-screeners and arrange intake times with staff
- Takes responsibility of drafting Letter of Understanding for client conduct and sending to Management for approval and presenting to client once approved
- Provide consistent updates to the Case Management Team and Executive Director regarding progress of clients within the shelter
- Assist Case Management team with clients wherever applicable

**Group/Program Coordination**
- Design and plan all program content for groups
- Lead and coordinate the schedule of groups/programs offered within the shelter
- Develop, analyze and review self-evaluation tools for group participants
- Participate in the facilitation of groups/programs offered at the shelter

**On-Call Responsibilities**
- Participate in the On-Call rotation - per diem compensation will be applied
- Provide guidance to frontline staff who are experiencing challenges on site
- Update Management if situation is urgent
- Assist in finding coverage of shifts if staff are unable to report into work. Personally cover the shift if unable to secure other sta
