Job Description

The Communications Specialist is a vital part of the Global Communications team, assisting in the development and execution of the Corporate Communications strategy and its day-to-day execution. This position requires expert media relations skills, a passion for writing, exceptional organization skills, with a keen attention to detail.

You are a strategic thinker, a reliable team player, dedicated to being a “keeper of the brand” and passionate about working with a growing team to educate, excite and engage audiences with powerful stories through a consistent voice.

Qualifications
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the development and execution of global Communications plans and initiatives, with a concentration on Corporate Communications activities
- Support the planning, organization and execution of Communications related activations, including events, press trips, factory/office visits, etc
- Support the team in management of Communications agencies in North America, EMEA and APAC
- Proactive and reactive media relations including drafting pitches, key messages, interview briefs, press releases, media alerts, etc
- Develop and update global press materials (media kit, presentations, fact sheets, etc)
- Build and foster strong relationships and engage with reporters to create and maximize media opportunities
- Work cross functionally to optimize impact and ensure consistent voice and success of integrated activities
- Work closely with Director to track departmental budget
- Proactively contribute creative, fresh ideas that will help move the brand and company forward
- Manage the measurement of Communications activities, including project recaps, as well as monthly and annual metrics

**Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**:

- Expertise, understanding and knowledge of the media landscape across all mediums, with a particular focus on Canada and the United States; though global experience is an advantage
- “Finger on the pulse” of current events, sustainability/CSR and the larger fashion/apparel/luxury industry
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive in bringing forward actionable ideas
- Stellar and articulate communicator, with strong writing, verbal and presentation skills
- Experience with managing a budget and invoicing
- Extremely detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills
- Strong ability to multi-task and “roll up sleeves” to get the job done
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and operates with a sense of purpose and urgency
- Fashion and Luxury brand experience is an advantage
- 3 - 4 years of experience in a public relations, communications or media relations related position; agency experience preferred
- University degree or college diploma in marketing, public relations/communications, or journalism related field preferred
- Demonstrated experience and proven relationships/coverage with media in Canada and the United States; corporate-focused experience is preferred
