**Student Assistant, Student Life**

**Employment Term: As Soon As Possible to 3 Months Post-Graduation**

**Rate of Pay: $15.30 per hour**

**Location: Henlow and Pembina Campuses**

**Monday to Friday, up to 15 hours per week**

Reporting to the Student Life Coordinator, The Student Assistant - Student Life supports the work of the Student Life department by planning and executing meaningful student events, groups, activities and professional opportunities that complement student’s academic, career and personal goals. Applicants must be current students enrolled in a full-time post-secondary/post-graduate program. The position will end no later than three months following the completion date of the student’s MITT program.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Soliciting advertisers and sponsors for Student Life projects and events as needed/required.
- Liaising with external vendors and other MITT departments/staff on various Student Life programs and special projects.
- Collecting and analyzing data to determine the interests and preferences of students.
- Assisting with logístical needs for ongoing Student Life programming.
- Assisting with managing on-site set-up and clean-up for events.
- Acting as a lead or facilitator for student groups, programs and events. This includes opportunities for public speaking and leading large group activities.
- Responsible for coordinating the activities of student volunteers.
- Maintaining and updating administrative records/documents.
- Planning virtual and/or in-person activities and events which support student involvement in the campus community.
- Promoting Student Life events, activities and programs via the student newsletter (The Current) as well as through online, print, and social media.
- Providing the Student Life Coordinator feedback on the success of projects and events; makes suggestions for changes and improvements from both a staff and student perspective.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
- Be in good academic standing in their MITT program and have an acceptable attendance record.
- Work Standards: Attention to detail, good organizational skills and ability to prioritize work under minimum supervision.
- Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills, including confidence with public speaking and delivering presentations and workshops.
- Teamwork: Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts; must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, the public, and students.
- Planning & Organizing, Adaptability, Initiative: Must be energetic and outgoing, possess a positive attitude, enjoy challenges and cope well with a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
- Required to work flexible hours.
- Must be willing/able to be assigned tasks located at Henlow, Fultz and Pembina campuses.
