**JOB SUMMARY**
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of Grade 12
- Community college diploma or university degree in a related field is desirable
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a social services setting
**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates are assets
- Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate is an asset
**KNOWLEDGE**
- Community resources
- Issues affecting homeless persons, families and women fleeing abuse
- Strong knowledge of Ottawa’s shelter system and supporting agencies
- Social services agencies and programs
- City of Ottawa policies and procedures, departmental policies and procedures
- Case management process for shelters
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
- Training on HIFIS is desirable
**COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Prioritize multiple tasks in an organized fashion

**WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
