**Position Summary**:
Harmony House is seeking a compassionate and qualified **Outreach Worker** for a **six-month contract**, with the possibility of extension. This role is essential in supporting women-identified individuals in the community who are fleeing abuse or experiencing crisis.

As part of our frontline team, the Outreach Worker uses a **client-centered**, **Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression (AR/AO)** approach to provide emotional support, advocacy, and practical assistance. The Outreach Worker also supports former residents as they transition back into the community, helping them maintain safety, stability, and independence.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide crisis intervention, informal counselling, safety planning, and referrals in person or by phone.
- Work with women individually and in groups to establish plans for safe, independent living.
- Maintain accurate case files and update client information in the database, including crisis calls, incident reports, and Serious Occurrence Reports (SORs).
- Accompany clients to appointments (e.g., legal, housing, health) as needed.
- Recommend creative programming based on client feedback and needs.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Liaise with community professionals and agencies to facilitate access to services.
- Assist with food bank coordination, move-ins, and move-outs.
- Compile program statistics and contribute to reports
- Perform other duties as required to support effective service delivery.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or diploma in Social Work, Social Services, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in fields of gender-based violence, mental health, concurrent disorders, counselling and other social services supporting vulnerable women.
- Strong understanding of AR/AO frameworks and trauma-informed care.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages an asset.

**Working Conditions**:

- Must be physically able to climb stairs (the shelter spans three levels and does not have an elevator).
- Required to lift boxes of food for the food bank and occasionally assist with moving furniture during client move-ins and move-outs.
- Must adhere to all Harmony House policies and procedures.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $32.53 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
