**JOB PURPOSE**

The Resource Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that organizational outcomes are achieved. They will professionally work as part of a supervisory team that ensures both the effective and continuous operation of Beth Tikvah’s residential systems and the health and safety, and well-being of persons with a developmental disability and staff. They will supervise staff by directing and supporting them to follow Beth Tikvah’s philosophy of community integration and adults living within a Judaic framework. They are responsible for implementing agency policies and procedures at all times. The Resource Coordinator will therefore, represent Beth Tikvah in a manner that conveys the nature and philosophy of the organization, and will promote the concept of inclusive communities.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**1) Hours of Work**
- It is expected that Resource Coordinators work 40 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate location needs

**2) Assigned Caseload**
- Provides services that reflect Beth Tikvah’s mandate
- Provides supports based on the person’s needs and desires as per Individual Support Plan
- Promotes equal respect for individuals within the community support group through:
enhancing public awareness through respectful and dignified interactions;
ensuring persons with a developmental disability Bill of Rights are upheld;
acting as a role model;
educating staff regarding their responsibilities in maintaining respect; and
maintaining agency confidentiality
- Develops supports by determining and prioritizing needs and ensuring that guidelines are developed and followed through
- Actively monitors progress for the above
- Assists in developing and monitoring Behavioural Support Plans/Guidelines that are put in place
- Ensures the health, safety and well-being of persons with a developmental disability and staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures

**3) Supervisory Responsibilities**
- Works as part of the supervisory team that ensures the effective continuous operation of Beth Tikvah’s day and residential systems
- Responsible for assisting with the interviewing and selection of staff
- Supervises staff both formally and informally on a regular basis
- Ensures staff complete all mandatory training and updates, within required timeframes;
- Completes own mandatory training and updates; acts as instructor for training courses as required
- Conducts written performance appraisals for all staff, as required.
- Recommends workshops/courses to meet staff training needs/personal and professional goals
- Implements progressive disciplinary action, in collaboration with Director of Services and/or Human Resources where appropriate
- Works in collaboration with other departments, as appropriate, to share information/ideas, problem solve and streamline procedures that impact on the system as a whole
- Ensures that all relevant information/issues/serious occurrences are communicated to the Director of Services and/or Human Resources Supervisor; follows appropriate channels of communication
- Schedules/chairs designated meetings, as required

**4) Administrative Responsibilities**
- Responsible for completion of staffing schedules to meet the needs of a person with a developmental disability as well as meet location needs
- Maintains staff supervision files
- Maintains documents as per Ministry legislation and compliance
- Approves management of location monthly budget/expenditures; monitors on a regular basis
- Approves and submits staff payroll information/personal data sheets on a bi-weekly basis
- Completes reports/forms in a timely, concise and coherent manner
- Sits on task groups and/or committees as required; demonstrates ability to implement follow-up as needed
- Conducts regular House / Team meetings

**5) Other duties**
- Teaching, Learning and Development courses on scheduled basis
- Participating in investigations as required

**6) Self-Development**
- Seeks out new information and opportunities to enhance competencies, and integrates the results into own career planning.
- Takes action to improve own abilities in line with career goals, including volunteering for “stretch” assignments and taking on increased responsibilities.

**7) Health and Safety**

- Complies with the legislative, regulatory and internal responsibilities as set forth in the **Occupational Health & Safety Act**, including health & safety, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (‘WHMIS’), workplace violence, Material Safety Data Sheets (‘MSDS’).
- Complies with hand hygiene, body substance precautions and infection control guidelines.
- Uses or wears Personal Protective Equipment (‘PPE’) equipment, protective devices or clothing, as required; reports the absence of, or defect in, any equipment or protective device which may result in harm or danger in the workplace.
