Our team is expanding We are currently seeking an **HR Generalist **on a permanent, full-time basis.
**Job Summary**
The HR Generalist plays a vital role within the Human Resources Department, ensuring the implementation of best practices and legal compliance with employment laws and other relevant employment legislation. This multifaceted role encompasses talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, talent development, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist is at the forefront of various HR functions.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- _Recruitment & Selection:_ Conduct end-to-end recruitment processes, including creating job postings, resume screening, interviews, reference checks, employment testing, and issuing offer letters. Develop and implement onboarding plans for new hires, ensuring comprehensive orientation and documentation.
- _Onboarding/Offboarding:_ Oversee HR orientation for new hires, ensuring proper documentation and understanding of company policies. Conduct Exit Interviews to gather insights into reasons for employee departures.
- _WCB Management:_ Manage Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims, including reporting, tracking, and overseeing modified duties. Collaborate with Workers' Compensation Board Alberta to address claims disputes.
- _Benefits Administration:_ Act as the administrator for the company's Group Health Benefits Plan, handling enrollment, benefits suspension, employee changes, and claims management.
- _Compensation Management:_ Assist the Finance Department in compensation management, e.g., pay increments, retro-pay calculation, termination/severance pay, etc.
- _Leave of Absence (LOA) & Disability Management:_ Draft employee communications related to LOA, accommodations, and modified duties. Update the LOA tracker and manage processes for accommodation, return-to-work (RTW), and reintegration.
- _Workplace Investigation:_ Manage the intake of employee complaints, leading investigations while ensuring confidentiality and non-retaliation. Uphold a fair and thorough process for addressing issues such as bullying, harassment, and whistleblowing.
- _Performance Management:_ Lead the annual performance appraisal process, monitor probationary reviews, and assist in drafting performance improvement plans (PIPs) and disciplinary actions. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for managers on performance reviews, progressive discipline, coaching, mentoring, and goal-setting.
- _Conflict-Resolution & Mediation:_ Assist in the proper handling of difficult employee conversations (discipline, intervention, termination, etc.) to mitigate potential legal ramifications.
- _HR Analytics/Reports:_ Assist the HR Manager in HR analytics and reporting relating to recruitment, employee life cycle, turnover, exit interviews, compliance, LOA, WCB, etc.
- _Legal Compliance:_ Provide advice and guidance to the management relating to relevant employment laws and legislation such as the Alberta Employment Standards Code, Occupational Health & Safety, Workers’ Compensation Act, Alberta Human Rights Act, Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), etc.
**Minimum Requirements & KSAOs (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes)**
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management is required.
- 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
- Proficiency in HRIS, e.g., Ceridian PowerPay.
