**Role Summary**:
As a Commercial Mortgage Loan Originator, you will develop, analyze, and recommend commercial mortgage loan investments. The role is accountable to develop an effective external network for acquiring successful prospects and to coordinate the client relationship for further revenue generation. Additional responsibilities include assisting with closings, analyzing other potential real estate transactions and performing special projects such as portfolio valuation and investment research. Success in the role will require the identification, managing relationships with borrowers, brokers and other market participants, negotiation, structuring and provision of the initial underwriting for unique, complex business transactions, ensuring credit decisions and recommendations.

**What you will be doing**:
- Leverage existing contacts to identify and develop new client relationships
- Originate commercial real estate loans across the GTA and GGH focused on making first and second mortgage loans in land, land development, construction, bridge and subordinate debt financings to real estate developers, builders, and owners.
- Meet frequently with clients and prospects ensuring comprehensive, holistic financial solutions.
- Understand and adhere to credit granting policies relative to quality and verification of information, analysis, profitability, and credit recommendations.
- For new prospects, review and analyze construction budgets, financial statements, cash flow and working capital position, business plans, goals and objectives etc. developing suggestions and alternatives that meet or exceed the client’s objectives. Prepare proposals, undertake negotiations with prospects, and oversee external lenders negotiations relative to the sale of real estate product and services.
- Leverage technology and profitability tools to identify & refer sales opportunities, ensuring optimal effectiveness
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and activity and provide robust communication around asset class relative value and opportunities across the broad investment team
- Perform due diligence to assure prospective investment meets underwriting criteria and approved mandate
- Conducting due diligence and analysis in order to determine the opportunity fits within our risk framework and delivers an attractive risk adjusted return.
- Preparing investment memorandums for internal approval that summarize your due diligence and analytical findings in support of your investment recommendation.
- Participating in the management and administration of the private debt portfolio as well as other alternative assets in which we are invested.
- Managing amendment and workout situations as they arise to mitigate risk and preserve the profitability of the portfolio
- Reviewing legal documentation, negotiating deal terms, and coordinating the legal and financial closing of the transaction.
- Developing and maintaining industry contacts to ensure ongoing access and visibility with regard to the private debt market.
- Represent Dorr Capital at various industry events
- Leverage market presence to gather key market intelligence to better inform Dorr Capital’s value proposition
**What You Will Need**:
- At least five years of related work experience in real estate investments preferred
- Experience as a mortgage originator
- Ability to originate transactions with a demonstrated track in marketing and deal negotiations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
- Intermediate to advanced Excel including proficiency with pivot tables, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of real estate fundamentals and capital structures
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- High degree of concentration and attention to detail/accuracy
