The Family Outreach Program, a community-based program operating in neighbourhoods across Waterloo Region, works with families with children aged 17 and under to prevent and reduce the effects of poverty. Family Outreach Workers support parents and guardians to meet their family’s basic needs by brainstorming solutions together, connecting them with resources in the community and, when necessary, providing direct supports. The Family Outreach Supervisor will possess and utilize their passion for coaching and developing people and teams. They will work with the program Manager to implement the vision of the Family Outreach Program by leading and supporting the team and building administrative capacity.

*** This is a permanent, salaried, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with paid sick time, personal days, vacation time; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.**

**Schedule Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Flexibility required,**

**including very occasional evening or weekend hours.**

**Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required; frequent travel throughout Waterloo Region. A satisfactory**_Vulnerable Sector_** Police Records Check required.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead, develop and support the team members working within the Family Outreach program, including staff, volunteers and students
- Supervisory responsibilities for health and safety within each program; ensuring a physically and psychologically healthy work environment for all team members
- Responsible for scheduling and the allocation of staff, students and volunteers based on the needs of each program and/or site
- Maintain communication with staff team, carry out coaching, regular check ins and reviews, and supporting staff professional development
- Coordinate program design and delivery, ensuring timely and appropriate services to meet the needs of the Family Outreach program at multiple sites across the Region
- Responsible for overseeing and supporting the day to day operations of the Family Outreach Program, including program budgets, expenses, coordination of data collection, staff and participant safety
- Develop and maintain a strong administrative foundation for the program and staff team
- Support the Program Manager with creating reports and proposals to support or source funding by sharing program insights, collecting registration and financial records, and coordinating program data collection
- With the program Manager, build and maintain solid and fruitful relationships with community partners and agencies to better serve families and address gaps in support
- Responsible for property management functions
- Represent House of Friendship at various community development and neighbourhood related meetings and community forums; bringing relevant issues and solutions to the conversation
- Take a lead role in community consultation and community leadership development initiatives

**Job Specific Knowledge/Skills**:

- Very strong leadership, team building and decision making skills required including demonstrated strength in coaching and developing people and teams with at least 3 years previous experience leading a team
- Experience working with student and volunteers considered an asset
- Experience with coaching and mentoring for personal growth and development, including the ability to coach others through conflict
- Demonstrated skill in building and maintaining productive relationships (staff, community partners, funders)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to create and implement processes
- Knowledge of local community agencies and resources is an asset
- Experience working with a budget and managing program expenses is an asset

**Education/Experience**:

- University degree or college diploma in related field of study and relevant work experience required
- At least 3 years of experience working in the area of social work, community development or related field, with at least 1 year leading volunteers, students or staff
- Experience in supporting newcomers, with a strong understanding of settlement processes, and a demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively in this area
- Knowledge of, and experience serving in the area of community development, with a passion for supporting those experiencing low income and preventing and reducing the effects of poverty
