1 position - Kitchener-Waterloo location
8-WEEK Summer Placement - Early July to End of August
**HOURS**: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday
**WAGE**: $20/hour
Are you looking for meaningful work that supports Indigenous youth, families, and community wellness? Anishnabeg Outreach (AO) is looking for a motivated, caring, and organized individual to join our team as a **Community Mental Health Worker** for the summer.
This is a dynamic position where you'll take part in community engagement, youth programming, and food sovereignty work. Key responsibilities include:

- **Youth Baseball Program** - running **Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5 PM throughout July**. You’ll lead inclusive, engaging sessions that foster teamwork, confidence, and mental well-being.
- **Youth Coding Camp** - offered by a partner organization. You’ll assist with registration, support families and be an onsite contact to ensure smooth operations and positive experiences. *No coding experience necessary.
- **Spirit Bundle Food Security Program & Spirit Garden/Farm Support** - You’ll help pack and organize food deliveries, assist on farming days, care for garden beds, and promote access to healthy, culturally relevant food for Indigenous families.
- **Other duties as assigned** - supporting wellness-based initiatives, outdoor community activities, and general program support as needed.

Anishnabeg Outreach is a large and rapidly expanding Indigenous non-profit and registered charity organization. We are dedicated to the enrichment of the Indigenous community through the development of many partnerships. Through our work, we foster belonging and spirit building, and dedicate ourselves each day to building a healthy and vibrant Indigenous community.

To assist First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) by creating a sustainable and comprehensive suite of centralized wrap-around services for urban FNMI and to establish Anishnabeg Outreach as an innovative hub/heart of best practices for economic development, training and employment on reserves.

**ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS**
These positions are funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be considered, you must:

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Experience or interest in youth programming, food security, or mental health promotion
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Comfortable working outdoors and indoors in a variety of roles
- Respectful and culturally sensitive approach to working with Indigenous children, families, and Elders
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and support team members as needed
- Physical ability to assist with lifting boxes, gardening tasks, and light setup
- Vulnerable Sector Check required upon hire

**PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES**
- **Lead youth baseball sessions** (Tues/Thurs 4-5 PM), promoting fun, inclusion, and well-being
- **Support youth coding camp** (registration, logistics, parent communication, onsite presence)
- **Assist with the Spirit Bundle program** - packing, sorting, organizing, and delivering food supports
- **Support the Spirit Garden** - watering, weeding, planting, harvesting, and maintaining farm tools and spaces
- Promote mental wellness, physical activity, and cultural connection through all programming
- Communicate respectfully with children, families, community partners, and AO staff
- Assist with basic administrative tasks such as attendance and reporting
- Other duties as assigned
