**JOB OVERVIEW: CONFIDENTIAL ASSISTANT, OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR**

Reporting directly to the University Registrar, this position provides strategic administrative leadership to the University Registrar. This position is accountable for the administration of financial, human resources, and administrative systems and controls to ensure the operations of the Office of the Registrar are effective and efficient and meet the needs of the students, departments, faculty, staff, and associated programming. The Confidential Assistant plays a key role on the Administrative support team within the Office of the Registrar. The Confidential Assistant oversees some of the work of the Administrative Assistants and auxiliary staff within the Office of the Registrar and participates as part of the larger administrative support team within the division of Student Services.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience in a Registrar’s Office at a college or university.
- Knowledge of BC and Canadian post-secondary education systems, governance and policies.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Proven ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment and demonstrate initiative, and to exercise tact and diplomacy and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential nature.
- Effective problem solving, rationalizing, time management, objective thinking, team work, independent work, critical thinking and analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and situations, to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
