**The Position**

Under the general direction of the Wellness Center Manager, the Community Events Coordinator will support the implementation of events and specified programs for the CMS Division in a collaborative and culturally safe way that promotes the health and well-being of the shíshálh Nation community. You will work independently and collaboratively with the CMS Division teams and across Divisions (such as with Language & Culture departments) to plan and deliver events and programs.
- Coordinate events management activities, resources and information. This includes tracking all event plans and tasks, ensuring event coordination follows a timely and efficient schedule and completing administrative and financial tasks.
- Plan, facilitate, and provide onsite coordination for all community events, including choosing and booking venues, approving menus, organizing entertainment, coordinating and ensuring cultural protocols, including traditions and ceremonies, are observed, event setup, tear down and follow-up processes are completed.
- Coordinate planning for specified programs, such as the Summer Fun Program. This includes scouting & booking locations, facilitators and activities.
- Plan and coordinate all event and program communication, including advertising and information content for social media platforms and newsletters.
- Ensure all electronic files and records are catalogued by year to provide up-to-date reference materials.
- Act as the main point of contact for all events and specified programs.
- Plan, facilitate and coordinate evidence-based wellness-related, prevention, education workshops, programs and/or presentations for youth, families, and/or the community using appropriate resources and technology.
- Work/liaise with the wellness team, education, health, and social development departments by way of developing, delivering, and evaluating culturally relevant wellness promotion and education programs, services, events and activities for shíshálh Nation community members.
- Demonstrate behaviours, actions and attitudes consistent with the Nation’s vision, mission and values. Maintain and present a positive and professional image at all times.
- Provide opportunities to enhance and develop positive cultural identities of the children, families, and communities served.
- Work respectfully, positively, professionally, and collaboratively with team members.
- Must be able to handle sensitive information in a completely confidential manner.
- Perform all other related tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Completed education in event planning, business administration, or related field and at least 2 years of related experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Strong PC software skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Excel). Working knowledge of WordPress, MailChimp and graphic design skills are an asset.
- Strong accounting/budgeting background is an asset. Experience in leading and managing a team.
- Experience in a First Nation environment providing Child/Youth Wellness Health services.
- Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities.
