Our people are our best and most important asset and through the development of this incredible team of people along with the growth of our business, we are seeking an **Accounts Payable Specialist.**
The **Accounts Payable Specialist** will report to the Controller and will be responsible for the processing and reconciling vendor bills.
**DUTIES**:
- Review and post vendor bills for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Review purchase orders and item receipts matching to vendor bills.
- Record landed costs by properly associating the freight bills with corresponding item receipts.
- Prioritize vendor payments according to cash discount potential and payment terms.
- Prepare vendor payments, which include cheque run, EFT, and wire payments.
- Audit and process credit card bills and expense reports.
- Obtain required signature(s) for cheques and distribute cheques accordingly.
- Respond to all vendor inquiries.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
- Assist in month end closing.
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
- Assist with other projects as needed.
- Other job-related duties and special projects, as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounts payable experience.
- Knowledge of standard A/P processes, basic accounting knowledge, regulations, and compliance requirements (sales taxes, etc.).
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully to internal and external stakeholders with a pleasant phone manner and etiquette.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or construction industry would be an asset.
**Salary**: $52,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
