**Job Overview**

The Daycare Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, and management of the childcare center. This includes ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children; managing staff; overseeing daily operations; maintaining compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements; and fostering strong relationships with families and the community.

**Key**Responsibilities**:Leadership & Management**
- Oversee the daily operation of the daycare center, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Provide direction, mentorship, and supervision to staff, including educators, assistants, and support staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional work environment.
- Handle hiring, onboarding, training, evaluations, and performance management of all centre staff.
- Model effective leadership and conflict resolution strategies.

**Program Development & Quality**
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum and programming.
- Monitor classroom environments and educator practices to ensure consistent standards of care.
- Support educators with program planning, observations, and documentation.
- Implement strategies to meet quality assurance and accreditation goals (e.g., Alberta Early Learning and Care Framework).

**Licensing & Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with all local and provincial childcare licensing regulations and standards.
- Maintain accurate records, including child files, staff qualifications, incident reports, and attendance logs.
- Prepare for and participate in licensing inspections and audits.

**Health, Safety & Wellbeing**
- Uphold and enforce health, hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, incidents, and complaints.
- Ensure the physical environment is clean, safe, and conducive to child development.

**Parent & Community Engagement**
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication and transparency.
- Address parent concerns and feedback with professionalism and empathy.
- Represent the centre at community events or organization meetings when required.

**Financial Oversight**
- Assist in budget management, including staffing allocations, supply orders, and enrollment targets.
- Monitor and maintain enrollment numbers to meet operational and financial goals.
- Approve staff schedules and manage payroll submissions.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (Level 3 certification preferred).
- **Experience**: Minimum of 3-5 years in a licensed childcare setting, including leadership experience.
- **Certifications**:

- Child Care First Aid & CPR
- Valid Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Child Intervention Record Check
