We are seeking an individual to join the Visitor Economy Office team who is passionate about tourism and the role it plays in helping build Toronto’s economy.

Reporting to the Manager, Visitor Economy Office, the Supervisor Special Events (Tourism) will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs and projects in support of tourism, including:
- Leading industry support programs (such as regenerative tourism))- Leading industry outreach initiatives/events and industry communications (including the Festivals & Events Calendar)- Leading communications with the City’s Strategic Public & Employee Communications team (Marketing and Media Relations)- Researching and supporting tourism development requests- Supporting the Night Economy initiatives as required- Supporting visitor information services designed to engage residents and welcome visitors

**Major Responsibilities**:
- Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements to support the mission of the Visitor Economy Office Unit.- Supports, motivates and trains assigned staff for programs and projects, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.- Provides support to the Manager, Visitor Economy Office on day-to-day operations of staff supervision including scheduling, assigning, reviewing of work, as well providing coverage for the Manager while on vacation (which would include delegated tasks such as vacation and overtime requests/approvals).- Manages the development, administration and monitoring of assigned project/program event budget including processing, tracking and submission of purchases, contracts, revenues and expenditures and ensures expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.- Designs, plans and executes programs and projects from inception to completion and evaluation, including any/all on-site related elements/activities.- Manages programs and projects, or acts as a member of project team, and integrates/consults with the Sections' Marketing, Sponsorship, Programming and Production teams to align elements into the program/project from its inception to evaluation.- Liaises with Sponsorship and Marketing teams to develop and execute local and regional campaigns in support of Visitor Economy Office programs. Would be required to initiate project request, review outputs, manage timelines and provide success metrics.- Develops, maintains and retains strategic relationships with industry stakeholder organizations, senior industry representatives, individual businesses, local, provincial and national tourism organizations, politicians, bureaucrats and consulates as well as with, schools, venues, communities and attractions.- Develops and executes strategic measurement techniques through surveys and other targeted research to effectively evaluate public opinion, economic impact and industry/sponsor impression.- Research new and existing tourism trends, statistics and information to help inform reports, briefing notes and documents in support the Visitor Economy Office programs and projects.- Researches, negotiates and contracts vendors in support of delivery of Visitor Economy OfficeServices programs.- Designs and implements logistics strategies for program/project/event execution.
