**Miller Transit** has been delivering public transit operations and maintenance services to municipalities in York Region since 1984. Currently, Miller Transit conducts operations under a long-term contract with the Regional Municipality of York. Under this contract, it operates and maintains more than 150 municipally-owned buses, and provides modern, efficient transit services to more than 600,000 residents in the communities of Markham, Richmond Hill and Stouffville. The York Region Transit fleet includes a broad range of vehicles of different makes, models, sizes and configurations. The entire fleet comprises of the new-style, low-floor, wheelchair accessible buses. Over 30 years of proven operating experience

**Responsibilities**: In the position of Transit Supervisor your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Directing all operating functions, maintaining discipline, and enforcing compliance with company policy and procedures and compliance with the York Region Contract
- Abide by the collective agreement and progressive discipline process for employees in violation of policies or improper performance of duties and recommending
- Tracking operational data and following through with Operator and Supervisor performance meetings
- Managing the transit service through efficient use of the INIT-CAD/AVL software
- Involvement in the training of the group
- Monitor bus service levels to ensure efficient use of equipment and personnel as well as compliance with budget, provide input, prepare and adhere to the department budget and resource limits
- Other duties will include but not be limited to planning and implementing departmental policies and ensuring maximum reliability and efficiency of run and route coverage
- Covering our Control Center and performing third chair duties
- Responding to other duties as delegated and assigned.
- 2 to 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in bus operations, with knowledge of operating a computerized CAD/AVL bus tracking system
- Must successfully complete a vulnerable sector screen
- Excellent knowledge of geographic locations, vehicle routing opportunities, and traffic conditions within the YRT/VIVA service area.

- Must be extremely flexible and have the ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment. Must be able to work out of any Miller and/or YRT location in York Region
- Supervisory experience is required for a 24/7 Operation and several employees
- Participate in all training sessions and training deemed mandatory by York Region Transit.
- Professionalism and ability to handle difficult situations and people.
- Excellent computer skills, problem solving and customer service skills necessary
- Previous work in a union environment would be preferred.
- Ability to write and communicate verbally in the English language. Ability to present information, and respond to questions from all levels of associates.
- Willing and able to work unconventional shifts including evening, holidays, weekends
