Ottawa, Canada Bank of Canada Full time

**Business Continuity Analyst**

**Take a central role**
The Bank of Canada has a vision to be “a leading central bank—dynamic, engaged and trusted—committed to a better Canada.” No other employer in the country offers you the unique opportunity to work at the very center of Canada’s economy, in a diverse and inclusive organization with significant impact on the economic and financial well-being of all Canadians. You will be challenged, energized and motivated to excel in an environment where we are reinventing central banking, renewing ways of doing business and reinforcing a culture of innovation.

Find out more about the next steps in our Recruitment process.

**Did you know?**
The Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) is an ongoing management and governance process that helps ensure effective incident response, maintenance of viable recovery strategies and plans, and continuity of key functions and processes through Bank-wide frameworks, exercises, rehearsals, testing and training.

The Business Continuity Operations work stream delivers traditional COOP services such as maintaining the Business Impact Analysis, departmental COOP Plans and the Bank’s network of Departmental Emergency Response Coordinators. This group provides ongoing Bank-wide awareness and training on key incident management tools such as ECL, Everbridge and mobile devices, used to successfully respond to corporate incidents.
All members of the COOP team must be ready to respond and cover key roles when actual incidents occur, including incident management, preparation of post-incident reports and implementation of recommendations for improvement.

**What you will do**
- support the design, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive framework to support the Bank’s business continuity requirements, ensuring the Bank can deliver critical services in response to any incident
- assist in the maintenance, development and delivery of stakeholder training
- support the maintenance of readiness plans for the Ottawa Support Centre, ensuring all departments are prepared to work at an alternate site
- represent the interests of COOP on the Corporate Security Service Communications Committee as well as the Security Awareness Committee
- support the Manager in the implementation of tactical objectives to align with the overall strategy established by the Director and provide input on business decisions and opportunities by staying current on issues which could impede the Bank’s ability to deliver critical services
- meet work plan objectives within quality, time and resource targets
- enhance the Bank’s resilience posture by assessing current policies and monitoring external trends to make recommendations, including analyzing best practices
- develop and maintain public and private sector networks for obtaining information relevant to the delivery of effective Business Continuity capabilities at the Bank

**What you need to succeed**
As an analyst, you are a team player yet also capable of working independently with little supervision. You are a self-starter, effective communicator, change contributor and innovative problem solver.

You understand project management theory and concepts, including planning and execution, and have solid analytic and problem-solving skills to research and assess operations, including the ability to identify problems and impacts, generate alternatives, determine appropriate action and oversee change implementation in resolving issues and improving processes.

Your communication and relationship-management skills are essential to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers, including external counterparts within the Canadian financial system, to preserve the integrity of the program. You share expertise, provide constructive feedback, contribute ideas, provide realistic commitments and deal with unstructured or ill-defined problems.

**Nice-to-have**
- ABCP (Associate Business Continuity Professional)/CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) certification
- ICS (Incident Command System) 100-400 certification
- knowledge of and experience with methods, techniques and practices in emergency response, incident management, disaster recovery, business impact analysis and evaluation, and risk-benefit analysis in a central banking environment
- knowledge of the Bank’s critical business functions and the relationship between the Bank and Canada’s financial system

**Your education and experience**
- a completed bachelor’s degree in business administration or a relevant field and a minimum of five years of relevant business continuity experience

or
