Position Description

The MUHC Division of Geriatric Medicine is highly committed to excellence in clinical care and innovation, research, and medical education. We are 11 specialists including 9 clinician-teachers and 2 clinician-scientists. The Division has a rich history of research excellence and international profile with clinicians in many areas including care, education and training, geroscience, cognition, and evaluation of services to older adults. Current research areas include: (i) the interactions between bone, muscle and fat, and the elucidation of common mechanisms and pathways associated with the pathophysiology of osteoporosis, sarcopenia, osteosarcopenia and frailty in older persons; (ii) health service research to improve care trajectories of older adults in situations of vulnerability, especially persons with dementia; (iii) impact of music therapy in geriatric care; (iv) nutrition and exercise as key determinants of health; (v) promotion of mobility and falls prevention; (vi) dementia care and caregivers support, among others.

The Division of Geriatric Medicine is one of fifteen divisions within the Department of Medicine. In addition to playing an important clinical role in the Department, division members have excellent opportunities for collaborative educational and research endeavors with protected time for scholarly activities to ensure a rewarding and fulfilling career development.

Qualifications and Education Requirements- Hold an MD degree and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec;- Have completed subspecialty training in Geriatric Medicine;- Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);- Hold certification by the _Collège des médecins du Québec_;- Possess relevant leadership experience;- Demonstrate internationally-recognized academic accomplishment in Geriatric Medicine research and teaching;- Have clinical expertise suited to tertiary hospital settings;- Have experience in training students, residents, and fellows in clinical settings; Faculty/Department/Unit: Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine
