**About Capital Development and Facilities Management at Humber**:
Capital Development & Facilities Management is responsible for new construction and renovation projects and provides project design, planning and space allocation services to improve and expand Humber's campus environment. We maintain all college buildings and grounds to provide a safe, clean, healthy and well-maintained campus environment that supports well-being and promotes excellence in teaching and learning at Humber. We also lead the college’s sustainability programs through the Office of Sustainability.

**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Maintenance and Custodial Services Manager and daily guidance and direction from the Site Coordinator, the incumbent performs day-to-day seasonal duties, which includes, but not limited to outdoor custodial work such as litter pick up, emptying outdoor receptacles, sweeping, removing weeds, grass cutting, shoveling snow, and distributing ice melting agents on College exterior property. It is also the responsibility of the Groundskeeper to perform light landscape maintenance work such as cutting in new planting beds, laying interlock, working with concrete and asphalt, laying sod, mulching and planting flowers, shrubs and trees, watering. Operation of various hand and power tools and motorized heavy equipment is also part of the duties, along with providing mechanical maintenance to these tools and equipment. Working side by side with third-party contractors performing various outdoors contract on site will also be a responsibility of the Groundskeeper.

This position requires on-call capacity and computer fluency.

Duties include:

- Upkeeps the entrances, parking lots, and pedestrian pathways free and clear of litter, debris, and other miscellaneous items. Attends to empty all outdoor garbage receptacles within College property. This duty includes the operation and maintenance of a variety of motorized landscape & construction equipment (motor vehicles, skid steer) in addition to a variety of hand power tools (leaf blower, power vacuum).
- Maintains all grass areas in the College by mowing, trimming, weeding, and raking. Performs light landscape duties on planting beds by weeding, raking, aerating, watering, refreshing soils, and adding plant material.
- Removes snow and ice accumulations through hand shovelling and equipment operation and applies de-icing compounds (i.e. salt and/or de-icer). This duty includes the operation and maintenance of a variety of motorized landscape & construction equipment (skid steer, JD tractor) in addition to a variety of hand & power tools (shovel, pre-treatment spray with tank)
- Constructs, installs, and maintains a variety of exterior site features such as pre-cast concrete curbs, fixed and temporary barriers, signs and site furniture, plant boxes, and parking lot accessories.

**Education**
- Trade Certificate or equivalent.
- Skid Steer, Tractor and Chain Shaw Operators Certification required.
- Arborist certificate, First Aid/CPR certificate and small engine training would be considered an asset.

**Experience/Skills**

Minimum 3 years of practical, hands on experience with landscape and general grounds maintenance of commercial, institutional, or park properties.
