**Key Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of the Heavy Equipment Operator include, but are not limited to:

- Assist the plant foremen with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
- Operate front-end loader to load aggregates and be able to keep up with production as well as maintaining incoming materials and stockpiles
- Operate other heavy equipment including: Skid Steer, Water Truck & Dump Truck, Aerial work platform
- Perform pre start-up inspections of assigned equipment
- Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment/components malfunctions
- Notify foreman of any issues or repairs required
- Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs. Including working at heights & confined space (training will be provided if necessary)
- Follow and perform assigned routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation
- Responsible for upkeep of tools, equipment and work area.
- Attend daily and weekly safety tailgates and inspections.
- Comply and enforce company’s environmental, health and safety policies as well as company’s Code of Business Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman
- High school or college diploma in a related discipline
- Flexible to work for extended time periods, rotating shifts, holidays & weekends
- Have mechanical knowledge and experience for general plant maintenance
- Valid G class driver's license
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adaptable to change
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting experience
- Maintain good housekeeping practices
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations
- Pleasant customer service orientation
- Able to work independently in a busy environment
- Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basic.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Experience working in an asphalt plant or manufacturing plant setting
- Mechanical background and or experience in an industrial environment
- Welding and Oxy/acetylene torch experience would be an asset
- Travel to other cities may be required time to time
