**Your opportunity**:
Under the general direction of the Assistant to the Dean, Leadership and Community Development, the Student Life Coordinator, Orientation and Transition (SLC, OT) supports the planning and implementation of a wide range of programs designed to promote the active engagement of the College’s first year students. The SLC, OT promotes community development, academic successand personal growth of first year students through program implementation, mentorship and transition support opportunities and student organization advising, as well as informal interactions with students.
As a member of the New College, the SLC, OT will be committed to an equity that recognizes, supports, and responds to the diverse histories, lived and marginalized experiences of students and many communities.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities geared towards first year students at the College.
- Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
- Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars and workshops
- Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies
- Liaising with internal contacts to ensure consistent administration of embedded student support services
- Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two years of recent and related experience providing administrative and advising support to student leaders and student organizations in a post-secondary education institution.
- Experience advising student groups.
- Extensive experience administering orientation programs.
- Extensive experience administering mentorship programs.
- Experience with student-focused event planning, promotion, and execution.
- Experience supporting the development of co-curricular activities.
- Experience working with and advising First year students and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience writing content for and maintaining websites.
- Experience creating social media content and managing social media accounts.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and organize work, and meet tight deadlines while able to pay attention to detail.
- Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students, student leaders and organizations in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
- Knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
**Assets (Nonessential)**:
- Successfully completed and received a certificate for ASIST and safeTALK.
- Knowledge of New College.
