Safety Coordinator
VanMar Constructors is looking for a high character Safety Coordinator that demonstrates a proactive and hands-on approach to driving the continual success of our safety program for a project in the New Westminster area. You will be responsible for ensuring trades on site are in compliance with WorkSafe BC’s OHSR as well as preventing injuries and accidents on site.
IMPORTANT: Below is a list of general skills and qualifications that will help, but ultimately, we are looking for someone that we can trust and wants to grow with VanMar. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review subtrade safety documentation and ensure it is being implemented on site.
- Orientate new workers to site.
- Collect and review Daily Hazard Assessments.
- Update and maintain the daily man-count.
- Perform and record daily site inspections
- Hold site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Conduct investigations for any incidents, near misses or injuries on site.
- Respond to all First Aid calls.
- Conduct site-based risk assessments and enforce preventative measures on an ongoing basis
- Document monthly reports based on site activities.
- Additional duties when and if required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of Advanced First Aid Training.
- Completed Construction Safety Officer Training or NCSO (an asset).
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
- Has strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and liaise with people at all levels.
- Is a critical thinker with good problem-solving skills.
- Is knowledgeable with WorkSafe BC’s Regulations and can identify and analyze work-related risks.
- Can participate in the implementation of appropriate action plans and corrective actions.
- Design, review, and update safe job procedures.
Compensation: VanMar provides excellent benefits and compensation commensurate to experience in the industry.
