**About the Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation**

The Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation (TLCI) at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology serves students, faculty, and staff in the following areas: Accessibility Services and Student Academic Support, Learning Commons (including the Library and Service Desk), Educational Development (including program and curriculum support, instructional support, professional development, Work Integrated Learning academic support, and Research and Scholarly Activity), Moodle and Google training and support, The Studio video production services, and the MakerSpace.

**The Opportunity**: Learning Coach, **Intercultural and English Language Specialist, Permanent, Full-time (1.0FTE)**

**Purpose of Position**:
**Key Job Functions**:
The Learning Coach, Intercultural and English Language Specialist works collaboratively with multiple campus departments. In addition to working as a member of the Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation, the role works closely with academic schools (faculty, Deans, Associate Deans), the Office of the Registrar, and Health and Wellness.

**Student Academic Coaching**
- Collect, organize and analyze information about learners through multiple sources in order to advise students towards academic achievements.
- Provide individual academic coaching tailored to specific student needs.
- Manage, coordinate, communicate and assess appropriate student support strategies.
- Assist with writing and presentation skills.

**Group Facilitation**
- Based on data analysis and demand, design and facilitate college skills group sessions to support academic success.
- Deliver relevant supplemental English language skills bridging.

**Enhance Student Academic Experience**
- Develop close working relationships with all leadership, faculty, staff, and the Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation team.
- Research and remain current with relevant scholarly information on student learning and success, including study skills, transition issues, and an overall positive student experience with attention to ensuring student success in a largely hands-on environment.
- Actively promote inclusive practices that reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
- Contribute to various college working groups specific to student success and international student experience.
- Collaborate with TLCI Educational Developers on curricular initiatives to enhance student experience.
- Include remote and satellite campus students in support initiatives.
- Develop resources to support student academic success.

**Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required**:

- Experience with international students and supporting English as an additional language.
- International experience (having lived, worked or studied abroad) and proficiency in a second language will be considered assets.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of EAL pedagogy.
- Display high emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a non-threatening manner and non-judgmental approach.
- Ability to exercise judgment, discretion, diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
- Proven ability to foster effective partnerships, particularly in the areas of collaboration, cooperation, and trust.
- Demonstrated skills in group facilitation and communication.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Proficiency with technology such as Google Apps for Education, Google Drive; and with learning management platforms such as Moodle.
