**Operations Manager - Retail Operations of the Auxiliary of the Montreal General Hospital (the MGH).** **Background**: The Auxiliary is in possession of several Retail sites, and operations, situated in the MGH building on Cedar Avenue, Montreal. Surplus funds from these operations are accumulated and subsequently used for the benefit of the patients of the MGH. The Auxiliary is a registered charity and is a "Not for Profit" organization. The Auxiliary operates under a Charter granted by the MGH. The Auxiliary operates under the name of the "Hospitality Corner", and includes a Restaurant, a Gift Shop, one Cafe, and a Catering operation. The Hospitality Corner uses Full Time employees, Part Time employees, and Volunteers in the manning and control of these operations. The Auxiliary is searching for an individual with long time managerial experience. This is an ideal role for someone who is retired. **Operations**: The Auxiliary has a Manager of Operations who is responsible for the management of all the Auxiliary's Retail operations. The departmental managers, including: The Foodservice Manager, the Accountant/Bookkeeper, and the Cash Manager; each, report to the Manager of Operations. As the Gift Shop is typically manned only by Volunteers, all other frontline employees, Full Time and Part Time, typically report to the Foodservice Manager. **The Operations Manager **role: The Manager is responsible for, and controls, the following: - All Administrative functions pertaining to these Retail Operations. (Refer to the personnel management of the different managers reporting to this position.) The Operations Manager reviews, and approves, (or not) any changes in personnel or their status, as proposed by the managers reporting to this position - All Financial management, and reporting of the Retail operations, including: Payroll, Cash Management, Transactions’ Management, Purchasing, Expense Management, Bank transfers, Cash Flows, etc. These activities are presented to the Operations Manager for his/her approval. The Operations Manager is responsible for approval (IE signing) any transfers of monies from the operations’ bank account. Other functions, such as Volunteer management, are performed by the Floor Supervisor, with the aide and counsel of the MGH Volunteer Services department. The Floor Supervisor reports to the Foodservice Manager (see below). The Manager of Operations reports to the Executive of the Auxiliary and, ultimately, to the Board of the Auxiliary. The role is remunerated, and the remuneration is dependent on experience, expertise, and Onsite availability. Employees reporting to the Operations Manager role includes three managers: **The Foodservice Manager**: is responsible for the proper and good management of the Restaurant, the Cafes, and the Catering operations. All employees in these operations, whether Full Time or Part Time, are under the responsibility of the Foodservice Manager. This position is a Full-Time position. The Foodservice Manager reports to the Manager of Operations. The Foodservice Manager is directly responsible for the hiring, the firing, and other administrative responsibilities for his/her employees. Any change in status of an employee, whether employee work status or pay modifications, must be reviewed with the Operations Manager and approved by the same. **The Accountant/Bookkeeper Manager**: has no employees reporting to this position. But is expected to work and manage outside Accounting/Bookkeeping support, including the Auxiliary’s Accounting/Bookkeeping personnel and/or Consultants. This position can be Full Time or Part Time as is needed. This position reports to the Manager of Operations. This position is supported by an arm’s length service provider for accounting activities (IE Payroll, Bank Reconciliations, Accounting software reconciliations, etc.) **The Cash Manager**: is responsible for the day-to-day management of cash flows in the Retail Operations, including: the preparation of floats for the various Tills, the disbursement of cash to the various Tills, the collection of cash from the Tills, and the collection of Tips from the various Points of Sale. Secondly, the Cash Manager is responsible for the proper counting of all cash transactions, the storage of all cash, and the reporting of all cash transactions, including the paper trails of Credit/Debit card transactions. The Cash Manager reports to the Operations Manager. The Cash Manager can also perform other managerial tasks and functions as needed in the Gift Shop and Restaurant operations. **To note**: there are, currently, 13 employees including the managers. In general, the operations are active from Monday to Friday. And, depending on the operation, from 7 AM to 4 PM. The Café operates till 8 PM during the week. And, also, operates on Saturdays. **The Role of the Operations Manager**: is limited in personal duties. In terms of hours of time involvement and in terms of On-S
