Overview:
The Operations Manager, Aggregates is responsible for the development, leadership and management of the operational functions and performance in her/his Market Area. The Manager will ensure alignment with all functional groups, Environment, Land, Manufacturing, Human Resources, and Safety to drive communication and consistency. The incumbent’s primary focus is optimizing available reserves and capital employed while leveraging operational excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production.

**Responsibilities**:
**Safety**:

- Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
- Develop, administer and promote and review safety policies, processes and procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Ownership of the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives, providing feedback as necessary.

**Human Resources**:

- Works closely with plant managers to develop a professional approach to operations management.
- Directly responsible for the individual development, motivation and training of the plant managers to promote customer focus, operational efficiency and skill development.
- As required, assist in the development, motivation and training of all related administrative, production and shipping personnel.
- Participate in the administration and management of local collective and hourly working agreements with site employees.

**Production and Supply Chain**:

- Develop, implement and track maintenance, production and shipping processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Employ daily communication process with Distribution, Manufacturing, Recycled Materials, Supply Chain and Quality to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.
- Oversee and manage Local and National Contracts to ensure expectations and purchasing gains are met.
- Works with his/her team and the ECAN Manufacturing team to analyze capital needs and requests.

**Financial Performance**:

- Plan, drive and track financial performance using local/regional tools, assist in the development, implementation and management of annual repair budgets, promote financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Forecast profitability and production to optimize yield; support supply chain with balancing inventory and sales needs to manage and minimize working capital impact.

**Inventory Manager and Distribution**:

- Oversee monthly inventory reconciliation to assist Distribution in balancing area inventory levels in order to meet local demand.
- Schedule and plan production to maximize available shipping faces and minimize Truck Turnaround Time (TTT), while working with local Quality team to optimize product offering.

**Sustainable Mining**:

- Assist Land in the development, implementation and management of a sustainable mining plan with detailed stripping, production phasing and rehabilitation forecasts to ensure reserve optimization, while managing community impact.

**Environment**:

- Work with Central Environmental Department to develop, implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.

**Community Relations**:

- Develop and maintain effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities, events and committees through partnerships within the industry, local associations and the business community.
- Ensures that a plant image guideline exists to promote a professional image in a standard and consistent manner across ECAN and is well implemented / enforced.

**Relationships with Others Jobs**:

- Reports to the General Manager
- Works closely with the ECAN Director of Manufacturing to ensure manufacturing best practices and tools are fully utilized across the market area.
- Works closely with Safety to develop and maintain a culture of safety
- Works closely with the Land and Environment teams to ensure all government and Lafarge Guidelines are met or exceeded
- Works closely with local Quality Manager, Supply Chain Manager and Commercial Manager to ensure efficient management of production costs & inventories and optimize customer quality needs.
