**This is a 12-month mandate in one of the Oxfam offices in Africa (to be determined)**

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 14 countries and 3 regions over a seven-year period (2020-2027).

The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything it does.

**Here’s what your daily life will look like**:
In close collaboration with the Oxfam team members, particularly with regional advisors and the global humanitarian team, you will contribute to:

- Assess the understanding, knowledge and barriers to community engagement
- Support teams to develop multi-sectoral engagement approach and guiding principles and build capacity on environmental scans to develop action plan
- Assist in the development of tools, methodologies and activities for community approach implementation
- Collaborate with Monitoring-Evaluation-Accountability-Learning team to develop monitoring indicators and information gathering processes

**For this mandate you must**:

- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada
- Possess a university degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or other relevant field
- Have a minimum 2-3 years of relevant community work experience
- Have experience in capacity building and collaborating with civil society organizations as well as local and national partners
- Be fluent in English and French, spoken and written (required)
- Master the Microsoft Office Suite

**What we offer**:

- $1,500 CAD per year/child for school fees
- A monthly amount for the rent

- A volunteer support program during your term and up to two months after your return to Canada
