POSITION OVERVIEW

The Advisor, Employee Communications, is responsible for communicating internal corporate communications and developing and executing communications plans for specific teams, initiatives and projects. They are a writer and editor for BDC’s various publications and channels (intranet, newsletters, presentations, videos, podcasts, etc.) and ensure that content is always accurate and of high-quality, which is aligned with BDC style and brand, as well as BDC’s strategic ambitions. The Advisor also oversees the employee question and answer forum and supports team coordination activities in support of large-scale projects.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Primarily, this specialist role is to:
- Develop and execute employee communications plans for specific teams, initiatives and projects by writing, reviewing and planning content and ensuring it is aligned with BDC’s style and brand, and with BDC’s strategic ambitions.- Create and deliver internal communications material, including messages, resource material, online content, short videos and podcasts, newsletters, internal social media and presentations.- Publish, edit and manage digital content on our intranet platform and other channels (podcasts, internal social media, etc.).- Maintain a content calendar and planner to ensure that internal communications are timely and relevant.- Oversee and manage the employee question and answer forum (Perspectives).- Work in close collaboration with the Manager, Employee Communications and Senior Advisors, as well as other key internal partners, to ensure alignment and optimal use of communication channels and tools.- Support the execution of communication tactics and coordination activities for large-scale projects or initiatives.- Gather insights to continuously improve the employee experience and use it to actively contribute to the development and execution of the employee communications strategy.- Keep abreast of trends and innovations in the communication field and make recommendations to evolve and enhance BDC’s employee communications.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in communications, including relevant experience in employee communications.- University degree in public relations/communications/journalism (or other).- Fully bilingual and excellent written and oral communication skills, in both official languages (English & French).- Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, with often short deadlines.- Excellent interpersonal skills and embraces diversity and inclusion.- Team player with a strong client focus and problem-solving approach.- Proficient in Microsoft Office environment and digital tools (previous experience with working html).- Experience in online platforms, web, video editing, digital asset management.
