**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**:

- **This is a maternity contract role until January 2027.**

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager (Contract), is responsible for overseeing daily HR operations - including payroll, benefits and HR administration - while managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment to off boarding.

With our newly implemented HR/Payroll system (UKG), this role requires payroll expertise and strong HRIS skills, with the ability to recommend, develop and implement processes that optimize our new system to provide exceptional service to all stakeholders.

The Human Resources Manager (Contract) plays a pivotal role in sustaining and advancing our coaching culture, ensuring a high performing, highly engaged workplace through strategic support, leader development, and process improvements - all while fostering an environment of transparency, respect, and trust.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Operational
- Oversee payroll processing/reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Oversee performance management process, supporting leaders in identifying performance gaps (based on Highly Effective Behaviours) and conducting effective coaching conversations to drive development and team performance.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employee relations issues, providing coaching and guidance to leaders, and conduct investigations, when required.
- Develop and monitor HR metrics to drive improvements and support decision-making.
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet organizational needs and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.

People Leadership
- Support and develop a high performing HR team by establishing clear expectations, delivering timely feedback, addressing performance concerns and celebrating successes.
- Drive engagement within the team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and values.
- Actively model and embed a coaching approach with leaders and team members, fostering skill development and autonomy.
- Provide ongoing informal and formal feedback to direct reports and stakeholders to strengthen individual and team performance.

Strategic/Compliance
- Ensure that HR processes, policies, and documentation meet compliance, ethical standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Conduct regular HR audits to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employement laws and payroll regulations, advising leadership on necessary adjustments.
- Continuously research and integrate best practices to enhance employee engagement and compliance.
- Partner with department heads to provide strategic HR support aligned with business objectives.
- Support the Director, Human Resources in corporate projects and initiatives.

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- CHRP or CHRL designation, or equivalent required; Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) an asset.
- 5+ years of progressive HR/Payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven proficiency with payroll administration and HRIS systems, UKG experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment law, payroll regulations and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and influence at all levels while building trust and maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong facilitation and coaching skills to support leader and team development.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Growth mindset, adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service to employees, leaders and stakeholders.
- As a condition of employment, a valid criminal background check is a requirement.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Primarily onsite role.
- Extended periods at a computer may be required.
- Occasional additional hours may be necessary to meet deadlines.
- Competing demands may create periods of high pressure.
- Occasional lifting and carrying office supplies or equipment may be required.
