Victoria, Canada Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society Full time

The Administrative and Communications Assistant is required to provide a broad range of support to assist the Executive Director (ED) and Director of Operations to respond to the overall vision and strategic directions of the Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society (ACEHS). In addition, this position works closely with senior management staff to support projects, administration, and operations of the ACEHS.

**2. Research and Writing**:Assisting with research, analysis, and writing related to various projects including the Decolonized Harm Reduction Framework, and the 5-Year Housing Strategy, and other research projects, including annotated bibliographies.

**3. Communications**: Developing staff memos, letters, briefing notes, social media management, fundraising and web site maintenance.

**4. Projects**:Proposal and grant writing; reporting; flagging deadlines; liaising with project leads to ensure deliverables are met; reviewing program agreements and summarizing contracts for the ED and Director of Operations; etc.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum education level is a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the work (public/business/office admin, community planning, and or project management), with preference to a Masters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Canva, as well as Social Media platforms.
- Experience or personal insights into working cooperatively and non-judgmentally with people with disabilities, lived experience, addictions, etc.
- Experience working with Indigenous peoples and an awareness of the impacts of colonization.
- Preference given to those who have worked as an Executive Assistant to Executive Director or CEO.
- Preference given to those with experience working at non-profits.
- Preference given to those with experience in coordinating events and community engagement.
- ** Requires a valid driver’s license.**
- Must have demonstrated writing skills (those short-listed will be required to complete a research and written assignment) and demonstrate knowledge of proposal writing elements._

- Ability to effectively manage time to complete and prioritize a variety of tasks within a given timeline, with adherence to important deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently, take initiative when necessary, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the intergenerational trauma that occurs because of colonization, Residential Schools, Sixties Scoop, and other oppressive systems as well as the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
